Biography

Visual artist, painter and photographer born in Paris in 1959, she grew up in Seine-Saint-Denis and currently lives in Paris. While studying medicine, the artist began painting, following a visual shock in front of a monochrome by Yves Klein. A doctor of medicine, she trained at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Throughout her career and her travels, she works in series using numerous pictorial techniques and materials.
For 20 years, she has done multi-field projects in favor of European cultural identity and peace. These projects brought her to Rio de Janeiro where she lived for several years. Her work focuses on the expression of spirituality in the world.

European commitment

Back from a first trip to Brazil which made her aware of her European identity while the Euro was replacing the Franc, Agnès Winter created the “Café de l’Europe” in Spring 1998 in order to promote a reflection about European cultural identity. A musical and poetic journey from Homeric songs to Contemporary music, European Musical nights, gathering more than 200 artists, musicians and poets from various languages and countries in Paris, Ljubljana and Rio.
